recycling

In order for nature to flourish, it must first be able to breathe. One of the central aspects of the project will be the removal of the trash that currently covers Margahovit. ATP and ACE staff and the residents will organize massive clean-up activities in Margahovit Village as part of the “Let’s do it! Armenia” campaign scheduled for September 15, 2012. “Let’s do it! Armenia” is a pan-Armenian volunteer initiative tied to the World Cleanup 2012 initiative. The goal is to unite everyone around the idea of cleaning up trash throughout Armenia, including historical and cultural sites. Special gloves and plastic bags will be provided to the Margahovit community and a massive effort will be put towards organizing and inspiring every community member to do his or her part. Not just on September 15—but forever.

In addition, members of ATP and ACE will implement a sustainable recycling and waste removal program, which will include a purchase of a special truck for the community so waste can be removed and recycled on a regular basis.
